Three ‘target killers’ killed in encounters


KARACHI: Police claimed to have killed three ‘target killers’ including an important commander of Lyari Gang War (Uzair Comrade) in three different encounters here on Monday.

According to police sources, first encounter took place in Baghdadi area in which an important Commander Wazir alias Rana of LGW belonged to Uzair group was killed. He was involved in over 15 killings and over two dozen cases of grenade attacks for terrorism and extortion, police said.

In other encounter, a ‘contract killer’ was killed in a police encounter in jurisdiction of Mochko police station. He was wanted in 7 killings to different police stations of city t. Police recovered sophisticated weapons from his possession.

Yet another encounter took place in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area when police conducted raid on tip-off about presence of alleged target killer.

Police sources said that accused opened fire during the raid and managed to escape. However, in police retaliatory fire an accused was killed on spot. The deceased was later identified as Faraz Baig.

Police further said that the accused was involved in various cases of street crimes including target killing of Azizullah, a cleaning and forwarding agent. Cases had been registered and further investigation is under way, police said.
