KARACHI: KMC Administrator Rauf Akhtar Farooqui said timely recovery of revenue was essential for achieving financial stability. Outsourcing of those departments will be considered who would not achieve their targets on time. All department must therefore improve their performance and the officers not attending this meeting be issued with show-cause notice.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting of recovery departments in his office, which was attended by Financial Advisor Farhan Durrani and head of Local Taxes (Advertisement) Department, Municipal Utility Charges, Land Revenue KDA/KMC, Estate Department, Master Plan, Katchi Abadi, Charged Parking, Veterinary, E&IP, CSR, Works & Services, Mass Transit Cell, Transport & Communication and other departments.
Revenue receipts for financial year 2013-14 were reviewed during the meeting and the situation of recovery till March 2014 was presented with yearly target.
According to details, Local Taxes Department achieved 68.71% recovery out of its target of Rs712.329 million for this period. Shortfall in recovery was recorded for all departments and Administrator Karachi expressed dissatisfaction over the recovery condition by revenue departments.
He urged the officers to make their departments more functional and operational and ensure speedy recovery of revenue in various heads.
He said the department heads should call regular meetings in this regard and instruct their subordinates to do more field work and also identify new resources of income.
Administrator Karachi said we could only get financial stability with the hard work of officials.
