Tree plantation is being started in all airports: Advisor

KARACHI: Advisor to Prime Minister for Aviation Shujaat Azeem has said that mass tree plantation is being started in the vicinity of all airports and their adjacent areas so as to improve the environment and beauty in cooperation with Pakistan International Airline (PIA), K-Electric (KE) and National Forum for Environment & Health (NFEH).

He said while speaking at an opening ceremony of tree plantation campaign at PIA head office. Federal Secretary Aviation Mohammad Ali Gardizi, Managing Director PIA Shahnawaz Rehman, Director KE Asif Hussain, President NFEH Mohammad Naeem Quraishi, Hamid Alwi, Maryam Nadir, Ghulam Kabriya, Adnan Farouqi, General Manager PIA Rashid Zafar and Col (Ret) Hameed Akhter were also present on the occasion.

Azeem lauded the successful campaign of tree plantation in Karachi, and asked KE, NFEH and other airports to participate in the campaign. He announced that Islamabad airport would be inaugurated in June next year. He also appreciated the efforts of Sindh Forest Department for the plantation of saplings.

He said that under the campaign, 3000 saplings would be planted in the vicinity of Karachi airport, Staff Colony and other adjacent areas. PIA will look after the planted saplings. MD PIA thanked KE and NFEH for starting the tree plantation campaign.
