KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday granted protective bail to two accused nominated in a case regarding holding of a Jirga for settling dispute of honour killing of two women in Shikarpur district.
Single bench comprising Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar allowed anticipatory bail to two accused Mehboob Ali and Syed Nadar Shah in sum of Rs100,000 and directed them to surrender before trial court. The bench cleared that protective bail shall cease to have effect on March 31 after court hours or on any earlier date when applicant may surrender before the trial court.
Both applicants while denying allegations of participating in Jirga said that case was nothing more than a plot against them and Pakistan Muslim League (F) MNA, Ghous Bux Mahar, who presided over Jirga,. They requested the court to grant them protective bail to enable them to surrender before trial court.
Thirteen accused, including sitting PML-F lawmaker, was nominated in the FIR of holding Jirga at Lakhi Ghulam Shah police station of Shikarpur district. Seven accused have already been granted protective bail in the case.
