Two DUHS doctors to get liver transplant training in Malaysia


KARACHI: Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) has sent two senior doctors for training of liver transplant surgery to Malaysia.

Pro-Vice Chancellor DUHS Prof Dr M Umar Farooq said senior doctors of the university had successfully carried out liver transplant of two tups about few days ago, after this two senior doctors Prof Shams Nadeem Alam and Dr Jehanzeb had left country for receiving six-month training of liver transplant surgery after which they would formally start liver surgery in Pakistan.

He said these doctors would treat the patients after completing six-month training. He informed that in first phase, the doctors successfully carried out liver transplant of two healthy tups in the university.

He said after the successful liver transplant of two tups, now the university has moved one step forward to start human liver transplant surgery in DUHS and training of doctors was the part of plan. He hoped that liver transplant surgery would be started soon in DUHS.
