Two illegal hydrants demolished in Korangi

KARACHI: Karachi Water and Sewerage Board on Thursday demolished two illegal hydrants in Korangi while three connections illegally supplying water were also cut-down by the authorities.

According to KWSB spokesman, officials acting on the directions of Managing Director KWSB Qutub Uddin Shaikh conducted a raid along with Assistant Commissioner Landhi, Imtiaz Ali, and concerned SHO in Korangi 5½.

During the raid, it was revealed that an illegal connection from a 48-inch pipeline of KWSB bulk water supply line was taken by an illegal hydrant named Nasir Hydrant. The authorities cut the illegal line and demolished the hydrant.

Similarly, another hydrant, named Mehmood hydrant, in the same area was demolished by the authorities. Meanwhile, DMD Technical Services, Najmi Alam has asked district administration and police to register a non-bail able FIR against the culprits so that they could not indulge in such activities for the next time.

Moreover, Sindh Minister for Information and Local Bodies Sharjeel Inam Memon has directed KWSB officials to keep an eye on illegal hydrants that were demolished by KWSB officials so that the culprits could not indulge in these activities again.
