KARACHI: Police recovered two local workers of United Nations (UN) from Pipri area of Karachi after an encounter on Monday. Police started investigation to trace two Hyderabad-based UN workers, Sami Nawaz and Fahim, who had gone missing after their arrival in Karachi.
They belonged to UN the U.N. Children Fund and were reportedly kidnapped by armed men from Gulshan e Maymar area four days ago. The police had earlier recovered their car in limit of Gadap police station.
A team of Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) and Anti Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) conducted a targeted raid and after a shootout with kidnappers, they got both the hostages released. The kidnappers, however, managed to flee.
