KARACHI: Karachi Electric on Thursday said that it was not possible for them to provide uninterrupted electricity supply to several privately owned hospitals in the city. Talking to PPI, a KESC spokesman termed the deaths of seven children allegedly due to electricity breakdown in a Korangi hospital as tragic but said that they were not able to supply continuous electricity supply as the private hospitals are connected with same PMTs as residential units of their respective areas.
He put the blame of deaths on the private hospital and said that they should have arranged alternate electric supply system in order to avoid such a tragic situation. He said that they had exempted several government-[run hospitals from electricity load shedding but still they had options of alternate electricity system in case of any fault and emergency electric shutdown.
