KARACHI: US Consul General Brain Heath called on Sindh Senior Minister for Education Nisar Ahmed Khuhro at his Sindh Assembly Office here on Wednesday.
They discussed education reforms and quality of education in Sindh and security measures which were being taken for schools. They also exchange views over bilateral socio-economic and political matters and mutual interests also.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro briefed him about the educational reforms in Sindh province. He appreciated the US AID specially to encourage Education Sector in Sindh. He said that it was the 1sttime that induction of the teachers has been made purely on the merit through NTS test.
He said that we want qualitative education right from primary level and US Aid in this regard would be proved as instrumental source. He said that Sindh government is also encouraging girl’s education and to promote girls education in Sindh the education department is giving stipends to girls students in Sindh and we have distributed the money of stipend 2500 to 3500 rupees among girls student of class six to tenth through easy paisa and ATM card as transparency can be ensured.
Nisar Khuhro said we have taken measures for security of schools and checklist comprising essential security measures had been circulated among schools administration which must be strictly implemented and have directed the increase of police and rangers patrolling in the schools areas.
He said that Pakistan attaches much significance to its relations with USA and called for further boosting the existing bilateral relations.
US Consul General assured to continue all possible help to the Sindh Govt in Education Sector. “We are committed to supporting education in Pakistan, which is the key to a brighter future for Pakistan’s children,” said US consul general Brain Heath. “Working together, the U.S. and the Sindh Government will improve the quality of and access to education for the children of Sindh.
