KARACHI: Workers demand that encroachment of their flats should be ended on urgent basis so that the residential needs of workers could be met.
Talking to media at a protest demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club on Thursday they said the provincial government should take efforts to ensure more than 4000 flats constructed for labours are vacated from the land mafia and handed over to their true allottees.
The protestors, carrying placards and banners raised slogans against the government negligence towards their issues and demanded their rights.
They welcomed the drive of the government against illegal occupation of land including China cutting of government plots. They said that their flats were also grabbed by a China-cutting like mafia which should be taken to the task on priority.
National Trade Union Federation (NTUF) President Rafiq Baloch, Deputy General Secretary Nasir Mansoor, Sindh Muttahida Labour Federation President Mukhtar Awan, Home-based Women Workers Federation General Secretary Zehra Khan, Pakistan Workers Federation Karachi chapter Chairman Waqar Memon were also present.
