ZA Nizami Block inaugurated at SSUET campus

KARACHI: Chancellor, Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET), Jawaid Anwar has said that Zilley Ahmed Nizami had an excellent decision power, who used to take decision on spot and always owned his commitments.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of ZA Nizami Block at the campus. Chancellor Anwar accompanied by Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Syed Jawaid H Rizvi, Registrar Syed Sarfraz Ali, Vice President AMUOBA Syed Anwar Ali, General Secretary AMUOBA Mohammad Arshad Khan, Mazhar Aslam Zuberi, Farrukh Nizami, Tariq Nizami, Furqan Nizami and others inaugurated ZA Nizami Block by cutting the ribbon.

Speaking on the occasion, the SSUET Chancellor said Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys’ Association (AMUOBA) is an organization with a cause that is actively participating in the promotion of scientific education. He said: “Education makes society grow and bring positive change in the country. Sir Syed University was established by AMUOBA to promote and transfer scientific knowledge. SSUET is the first engineering university in private sector.”

He pointed out that the Career Planning and Placement Bureau had been expanded to the Centre for Guidance/Counselling and Career Planning/Placement for the students’ counselling and orientation. The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) has been developed to strengthen the university’s intellectual infrastructure for effective Faculty Development Programs (FDP) through vigorous trainings and workshops.

Anwar said, “To enhance the quality of research and to develop research friendly environment at the campus, the Office of the Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has been formed to generate new ideas to enrich the knowledge for achieving sustainable development in the academic arena.

Noted educationist Anwar Zai said ZA Nizami was a good town planner and he changed the city structure of Karachi according to modern demands. His skill and knowledge was used by the government of Saudi Arabia in the extension of Holy Mecca and Madina city. Journey from person to personality is very agonizing. Person dies, not personality. Renowned scholar Prof. Dr. Waqar Ahmed Rizvi said Mr. Nizami initiated 45 schemes to develop Karachi. He wanted to make Karachi as an ideal society. Famous anchorperson Rizwan Siddiqui said Mr. Nizami made his retired life purposeful. Students of Aligarh Muslim University motivated the society to inculcate moral values.

General Secretary AMUOBA, Mohammad Arshad Khan concluded the ceremony with vote of thanks.
