12 fishermen go missing, four survive as two boats sink in sea

KARACHI: As many as 12 fishermen went missing after three boats carrying 16 people sank into the Arabian Sea near Keti Bandar port of Thatha city on Saturday.

Pakistan Maritime Security Agency teams rescued four of the fishermen. However, they continued the search for the remaining 12 fishermen but strong winds were hampering their operation.

Pakistan Maritime Agency personnel said their teams have been responding to such calls from the fishermen in difficulty amid the strong winds and harsh weather conditions at the sea. Today, cold weather and dusty winds are blowing in Karachi city and its coastal belt. The fishermen have been advised to stop sailing into the sea.

All concerned authorities have advised to remain “VIGILANT” during the forecasted period of bad weather conditions in Karachi and other parts of Sindh. Yesterday five people were killed due to heavy wind-related incidents in Karachi.
