KARACHI: Special Judicial Magistrate and traffic police challaned 12,863 vehicles and charged Rs 3,339,660 fine at mobile courts due to traffic violations, said Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui in a meeting at his office.
The Commissioner Karachi said that Special Judicial Magistrate and traffic police challaned and fined those vehicles in the city due to traffic violations like installation of substandard CNG cylinders, violating parking rules, having incomplete documentations, overloading, and non-availability of driving license and violations.
He said that Special Judicial Magistrate District Malir challaned 1,090 vehicles and fined Rs 412,510; Special Judicial Magistrate District South challaned 727 vehicles and fined Rs 157,700; Special Judicial Magistrate District Korangi challaned 2,730 vehicles and fined Rs 824,150; Special Judicial Magistrate District East challaned 1,955 vehicles and fined Rs 640,300; Special Judicial Magistrate District West challaned 4,357 vehicles and fined Rs 839,700 and Special Judicial Magistrate District Central challaned 2004 vehicles and fined Rs 465,300.
The commissioner said that all assistant commissioners had been given powers of Special Judicial Magistrate to take actions against traffic violations so as to provide relief to the public.
The Commissioner Karachi asked people to obey the traffic rules and save others and their lives.
