KARACHI: Sindh Home Ministry said on Monday that 582,000 forms for computerized arms licenses were issued till Monday. According to a data obtained from Sindh Home Department, 80,000 forms were issued in Karachi; 290,100 in interior Sindh and 209100 in Hyderabad while the remaining forms were issued from Home Ministry directly.
Sindh Home Department started this campaign in October 2013 with the cooperation of National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA). Special registration counters have been established at the offices of the Deputy Commissioners of 27 districts of Sindh province.
Talking to PPI, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Sindh, Mumtaz Ali Shah, said on Monday that 582,000 forms of computerized arms licenses had been issued. He said that the process of issuing computerized arms license forms had been expedited this month as till December 2013, only 300,000 forms were issued.
Shah said that the last date for submission of computerized arms license forms would not be extended after January 31. “Government would take action against those who fail to computerize their arm licenses licenses.”
Meanwhile, a source privy to this process told PPI that there were more than 1,000,000 arm licenses in the province and it would need two months more to complete this process.
