60mn Pakistanis lack clean water facility

Karachi: Sixty million Pakistanis have no facility of clean drinking water, resulting in spread of waterborne dieses, said Al-Khidmat Foundation Pakistan chairman and ex-city nazim Karachi Niamatullah Khan Advocate.

Addressing a meeting of Al-Khidmat clean water project, he said their organization have already set up 496 water filtration plants, 60 water supply projects, 2248 hand-pumps and 945 dug-wells in different poor and water-deficient localities, including desert areas. He said these projects are facilitating 85925 families.

He said more water supply projects would be initiated, besides launching a grassroots awareness campaigning to raise awareness about the use of clean drinking water.
