KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui has said that divisional and district administration was continuing operation against illegal profiteering and adulteration of utility items.
“The administration officials have challaned 65 shopkeepers and imposed Rs 61,900 fine against them for selling utility items above fixed prices,” the commissioner said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
He said that actions against profiteers were taken in Gulzar Hijri, Garden, Landhi, Airport and North Nazimabad areas of Karachi.
He said that assistant commissioners also challaned four flour dealers, 40 poultry sellers, four edible items retailers, three vegetable vendors, three fruit seller and 11 milk sellers, while four profiteers were sent to jail.
The commissioner said that the crackdown against the profiteers would be continued till they stopped selling commodities at fix prices.
