Karachi: Accused in different cases, including suspect Shahid Bikak involved in extortion case, could not be produced in Anti-Terrorism Court-II due to security concerns.
The hearing of Bikak case was adjourned till 13rd January 2014.
According to the prosecution, accused Bikak had demanded ‘protection money’ from ice-cream shop owner Abdul Muttalib, said to be a close relative of President Mamnoon Hussain, and opened firing on the shop situated near Light House, M A Jinnah Road, when the extortion money was not paid.
Police also charged that suspect Bikak was associated with one of the several criminal gangs in Lyari, and also involved in a number of extortion cases.
The case (271/2013) was lodged on Oct 2 under Sections 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act (ATA) 1997 at the Arambagh police station on behalf of the State.
