Action ordered against commercial use of parking spaces


KARACHI: Governor Sindh Doctor Ishratul Ibad Khan on Monday, in a meeting expressed concern about usage of allocated parking spaces of buildings in Saddar, MA Jinnah Road and surrounding areas for commercial purpose and directed to authorities concerned to make these parking areas functional.

Governor also established a committee headed by Commissioner Karachi, with Deputy Commissioner South, DIG Traffic and representatives of Sindh Building Control Authority as members. The committee will be identify the buildings whose parking areas are being used for commercial purpose and make them functional for parking vehicles.

Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, Administrator KMC Rauf Akhtar Farooqui, Deputy Commissioner South Jamal Qazi, DIG Traffic and Rangers officials attended the meeting and briefed the governor about operation of removal of encroachments in district South and explained the obstacles being faced in removal of encroachments.

Govern hoped that after revival of parking spaces and removal of encroachments the traffic flow would be improved and the problems of commuters, motorists and pedestrians reduced to some extent.
