KARACHI: Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui on Sunday said that actions against profiteers and hoarders would continue in the city, while action would also be taken against social evils involved in preparing and selling hazardous food items.
Speaking to a delegation at his office on the occasion of the World Consumer Rights Day, Siddiqui vowed that Karachi administration would safeguard the rights of consumers and take concrete steps to provide more relief to consumers.
The commissioner said that several shopkeepers were fined and millions of rupees were collected from them after they were found guilty of profiteering. “Several shopkeepers who challenged the government writ were jailed,” he said.
He said that the government would accelerate actions against profiteers and hoarders, besides raising fines on people involved in such activities.
