Altaf calls for maintaining peace during Friday protests


KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain on Thursday appealed religious organizations of different sects who have called for rallies and strike on Friday to ensure that no damage of lives, property and worship places should be done.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Hussain said that peaceful protest is the right of every religious and political party in the country but the current situation of the country demands that the protests should remain peaceful. “Protestors should show wisdom and foil every conspiracy of dividing Muslim in different sects.”

He said that the Rawalpindi incident was a conspiracy to tear apart the unity of Muslim Ummah and destabilize Pakistan. “Anti-Pakistan and anti-Islam forces are now once again trying to push the country towards sectarian conflict.”

MQM chief said that it was prime responsibility of clerics from different sects to play their positive role in foiling conspiracy against Pakistan show unity among themselves by showing respect towards each other’s sect.

He said that if clerics of all sects would not show wisdom and play their national and religious role in foiling conspiracy against Pakistan then our future generations would not forgive us.
