KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party MNA Shahjehan Baloch, booked for his alleged involvement in the abduction and murder case of a notorious gangster Arshad Pappu, has approached Sindh High Court (SHC) challenging the verdict of an anti-terrorism court that rejected his bail application in Arshad Pappu case.
Alleged Lyari gangster Arshad Pappu, his brother Yasir Arafat and their confidant Juma Shera were killed on the night of March 16. MNA Baloch, Zubair Baloch, Zakir Dada and Abdul Rehman, all in prison, and another suspect Yousuf Baloch, were charge-sheeted in the case.
Uzair Jan Baloch, the chief of the banned People’s Amn Committee, Habib Jan, Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla, his brother Zahid Ladla, Asif Kana, Faisal Pathan, Yasir Pathan, then SHOs of the Chakiwara and Kalakot police stations Chand Khan Niazi and Javed Baloch were the absconders in the case.
Judge Saleem Raza Baloch of ATC-III had dismissed the bail application of MNA Baloch after hearing arguments from both sides.
According to the FIR registered on the complaint of Arshad Pappu’s widow, the alleged gangster along with his brother, a confidant and his 10-year-old son had gone to attend a party at a friend’s apartment in the DHA on the night of March 16.
The boy came back at around midnight and informed his mother that around 20 men in two vehicles came to the apartment and kidnapped his father and two others. The complainant stated in the FIR that the victims were killed after being subjected to torture. She alleged that the offence was committed on the behest of MNA Shahjahan Baloch.
