ATC awards death sentence in murder case

KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Friday awarded two counts of death sentence to two men for killing two policemen. Mohammad Umer and Fazil were found guilty of killing police constable Mohammad Arif and police constable Mohammad Khan in the remits of Mochko police station in 17th May 2012.

The judge of the ATC-II pronounced the verdict after recording evidence of witnesses and final arguments from both sides.

However, both suspects were awarded two times death sentenced in the murder case and 14 years life imprisonment in possessing illegal weapons.

ATC also directed to confiscate the property of both convicts.

According to the prosecution, they were involved in murder of constable Arif and constable Khan within the remits of Mochko police station.

The prosecution said that the matter was reported to police and a raid was conducted within the remits Mochko of police station and arrest of the accused made on 23rd May 2012.

A case (FIR 155/2012) was registered at the Mochko police station under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 324 (attempted murder), 302 (premeditated murder), 392,395 and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
