KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh, Mohammad Ejaz Chaudhry, on Tuesday stressed the need for completion of all development projects within stipulated time and directed all relevant additional and other secretaries to ensure their implementation without any hindrance.
This he directed while reviewing a report compiled by Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development at his office in which sketch of briefing was presented on the occasion of Sindh Secretariat visit by participants of 13th Senior Management Course in National Institute of Management. Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development Arif Ahmed Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home Mohammad Waseem and DIG Sindh Police Sanaullah Abbasi apprised the trainee officers about the performance and problems faced by relevant departments.
It was told in the briefing that Sindh has 71.7% contribution in total gas generation of the country, 39% in electricity, 62% in oil and 31% in coal production.
Sindh also contributes 68% share in federal tax revenue, 64% in income tax, 80% in customs duty and 86% in central excise duty. It was informed that the sectors under priority are education, health, agriculture, livestock, transport, communication, coal, energy and water & sanitation.
Additional Chief Secretary Home said that preparations were being made under law for Witness Protection Program in order to ensure protection to witnesses as per orders of Supreme Court.
The chief secretary also ordered chiefs of all departments to present review reports about ongoing and pending development works so that steps could be taken to ensure their completion on time.
