Doctors’ protest in Larkana continues

Karachi: Doctors and paramedics of Larkana district continued their protest on the 12th consecutive day on Saturday after boycotting OPD & OT duties of the largest teaching hospital of upper Sindh, Chandka Medical College Hospital, and other district health headquarter hospitals here on Saturday.

Chandka Medical College & Aseefa Dental College classes were also boycotted due to which the education of all medical students remained suspended for the fourth consecutive day as all the Chandka Teachers Association members have joined the protest.

They staged a large rally from their Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) office which marched through main streets of Larkana including Civil Hospital Road, Royal & Bunder Roads, Shahi Bazaar Road, Pakistan Chowk from where they reached at Jinnah Bagh roundabout where they staged a sit-in. Due to their protest all kinds of traffic came to standstill. Paramedics and members of Hindu community under the banner of their Hindu Panchyat also took part in the protest led by their leader Kalapna Devi.

The agitating doctors announced that on Tuesday next (March 11) they will again stage large sit-in on SSP/DIGP roundabout which will continue till the Larkana SSP Khalid Mustafa Korai is transferred and offenders of FIR No: 24/2014 of Dari police station are arrested.

Prof: Badar Junejo, lawyer Kalapna Devi, Dr. Ikram Tunio, Dr. Shah Baig Chandio and others in their speeches said demanded arrest of accused involved in the attack on Dr. Partab Rai, Trainee Registrar of Institute of Child Healthcare of Chandka Hospital.
