Karachi: Administrator Karachi Rauf Akhtar Farooqui has directed to re-organize structure of Engineering Department and give eligible officers the post of director on seniority basis.
He directed to complete remaining construction works of Shahrah-e-Pakistan Flyovers & Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, expedite ongoing projects and commence work on all new projects including Malir 15, Malir Halt, Mehran Hotel Underpass, Shaheen Complex Flyover as soon as possible.
On this occasion Director General Engineering Department Niaz Ahmed Soomro, Chief Engineers of different districts of Karachi and all Project Directors were also present who informed about ongoing development projects in their areas.
Chief Engineer of District East informed that both tracks of Korangi Causeway were widened up to 36 inches which had overcome traffic jam problems to such an extent.
Chief Engineer of District South informed that construction work on four projects of roads was underway in his district and measures were being taken to ensure early completion of remaining work.
Administrator said that construction works on nine development projects were underway in the city which includes construction of four flyovers on Shahrah-e-Pakistan, Zulfiqarabad Oil Tankers Parking Terminal, Malir Halt & Malir 15 flyovers, Underpass near Mehran Hotel and Shaheen Complex Flyover. All these projects hold much importance for the city and all possible measures were being taken to complete them in stipulated time.
He said that a good and capable engineer could work and produce beneficial outcome. He directed that Project Directors should be assigned for their work only so that they could complete their projects on time.
Administrator Karachi said that all Chief Engineers and Project Directors should keep on reviewing and inspecting uplifting works underway in their areas regularly and ensure their early completion.
He said that provision of facilities to citizens was responsibility of Municipal Departments and development projects were made to benefit citizens and improve their daily life.
He directed Director General Engineering Department that quality in construction works should be ensured so that these projects could prove durable and citizens could benefit from them for a long time.
