KARACHI:Deputy Consul General of Germany Hans Juergen Paschke donated IT equipment and electrical appliances worth US$ 99,000 to Sindh police at Central police Office Karachi on Friday.
In a ceremony held at CPO office, the equipment were handed over to IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch. The IT equipments will be utilized in the police training college at Saeedabad to upgrade computer skills and professional skills of the trainees.
The equipments were presented as aid from the German government under the project Capacity Development Support to the Sindh Police (CDSP), being managed by the Gesellschaft Fuer International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). The CDSP project is fully funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and aims at providing expertise and equipment to the police of Sindh.
The next donations will consist of furniture for the Police Training College Saeedabad. Five state of art fingerprint system worth some US$100,000 are also underway for training and forensic purposes. Later during the year, modern investigation tools kits will follow.
In December last year GIZ organized two workshops for police officers on the importance of forensics and crime scene investigation in which over 500 police personnel of Sindh Police attended and completed the workshops.
The handing over ceremony was attended by Additional IGs of special branch, DIGs of training branch, establishment and headquarters and former IGP Sindh Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak as well as the management of the CDSP project.
