Karachi: Renowned surgeon Dr Shamim Khan on Monday stressed the need for adopting minimal invasive surgical (MIP) procedure called laparoscopy which is painless and cost effective for patients.
He expressed these views while addressing an opening day of 3-day conference on “Minimal Invasive Surgery in Urology”, organized by Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) in Karachi.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shamim said by use of the minimal invasive surgical procedure, a patient may require only a band-aid on the incision rather than multiple stitches or staples to close a large incision.
He said this surgery usually results in less infection, a quicker recovery time, shorter hospital stays and allow outpatient treatment. He said minimal invasive surgical procedure is cost effective and scar free.
Director SIUT and renowned surgeon Prof Adibul Hasan Rizvi emphasized the importance of this technological advancement of surgical sciences, particularly in the field of urology.
He said SIUT has always played a key role in bringing medical knowledge and technology in the country. He further said SIUT has always been in forefront in organizing seminars, workshops and training for medical professional to enhance their professional capacity and maintain flow of information.
