KARACHI: An Anti-Terrorism Court-II (ATC-II) on Wednesday remanded a suspect Ajab Khan to police custody till 27 March 2014 in an extortion case.
Ajab was produced before ATC-II judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations.
According to the prosecution, the suspect had demanded Rs 5,000,000 protection money from Dawood Khan and extended him threats of killing in case of non-payment in Orangi Town on 23 February 2014.
Suspect was arrested during a raid conducted by police within the remits of Mominabad police station on 11 March 2014.
The case FIR No (52/2014) was registered under Sections 385 (putting person in fear of injury in order to commit extortion), 386 (extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section 7 of the Anti-terrorism Act (ATA) 1997 at Mominabad police station.
