KARACHI: Chief Secretary Sindh, Sajjad Saleem Hotiana, on Wednesday asked law enforcement agencies (LEAs) to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Muharram-ul-Haram specially and for routine situation generally.
He was presiding over a review meeting on law and order arrangements in his office. The meeting was attended by IGP Sindh Shahid Nadeem Baloch, Additional chief secretary Home Mumtaz Ali Shah, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, AIGP Shahid Hayat and Advocate General and law secretary.
The meeting was apprised by IGP Sindh that 171 cases of most heinous nature and 430 of heinous nature have been registered pertained to murders, extortion, target killings, kidnapping for ransom, terrorism and street crimes.
The chief secretary directed that strict monitoring of the procession routes, congregations, mosques and Imambargahs be conducted adequately. Hotiana instructed the secretary local government to remain in contact with aw enforcing agencies for smooth provision of municipal services in respect of Muharram-ul-Haram.
On a proposal of ACS Home, Chief Secretary assured that Ministry of Interior would be requested to reactivate NARA for resolving the issues relevant to aliens. He also asked Secretary Finance Sindh to release the budget allocation/funds for compensation to families to martyred policemen.
