Hamza murder case: DSP fails to produce main suspect in court


Karachi: DSP on Wednesday failed to produce main accused Amal Rehman in Anti-Terrorism Court-III (ATC-III) in Hamza murder case. On the behalf of DIG AD Khuwaja, DSP Manthar Bhayo told ATC-III judge that police conducted raids but it could not arrest the suspect Rehman.

An O level student Hamza Ahmed was killed allegedly by Amal Rehman, a security guard of Shoaib Naveed outside a restaurant in Defence on 27 April 2014.

According to the prosecution, Shoaib, his father Naveed Ahmed, driver Mushtaq and two security officials Mohammad Idrees and Abid Hussain were named in the charge-sheet for allegedly abetting the offence while security guard Amal, who allegedly killed Hamza, was charge-sheeted under Section 512 (record of evidence in absence of accused) of the CrPC.

The court adjourned the hearing of the case till 06 January 2014.

Hamza’s father, Talib Suhail, had registered a murder case under Sections 302 (premeditated murder), 114 (abettor present when offence is committed) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code, naming Shoaib Naveed, his father Naveed Ahmed, their guard Amal Rehman and others as accused at Darakhshan police station.
