ICMA marks International Women Day

KARACHI: Institute of Cost & Management Accounts of Pakistan (ICMA) organized a seminar on Women Empowerment to commemorate

‘International Women Day’ at a local hotel here on Sunday.

President First Women Bank Ms Hidayatullah was the chief quest while a large number of women from corporate sector attended the program and some of them shared their stories of professional success with the audience.

Ms Hidayatullah said that First Women Bank was the first bank of the world where all staff members were female and now India and Iran had copied it.

Highlighting women role in development of society, she said that a big change had taken place in Pakistan regarding women role in the society, especially in corporate sector but still there were many things to do in order to empower women and ensure them equal rights.

She said that Islam has given full rights to women, hence, they could achieve all their goals while remaining within religious injunctions. There is no need to cross these limits like western women. “We are not western women but Muslims and Pakistani having certain limits,” she added.

She highlighted the importance of women bank and said that under Prime Minister Youth Business Loan Program, loans were being provided to women by First Women Bank.

Convener ICMA Women Forum Ms Rozina Muzammil also spoke.
