KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has demanded of the provincial government and Election Commission to announce an authentic schedule for holding Local Bodies (LB) elections in Sindh.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, JI Karachi chief said that the SHC had directed the provincial government to hold LB polls on time without any delay, however; the provincial government had not yet taken any clear stance in this regard, which created confusion among the masses.
He said that the Sindh Chief Minister and other PPP ministers, on one hand hinted at delay in holding the LB polls, while on the other hand, some of the elements were of the view that the SHC had declared the nomination papers filed by candidates “as null and void”, after the verdict.
Naeem further said that the government and Election Commission should clear its stance regarding holding of LB polls. He further said that the common man can get relief only by the restoration of LB System in its true spirit, adding that the delay in holding LB election may increase in the woes of the masses.
“The situation should be cleared after the verdict of SHC on LB polls, but the mala fide intentions of provincial government is further aggravated the situation”, he added.
