JI for holding local body polls

KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) General Secretary Karachi and former Town Nazim Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Abdul Wahab, has reiterated his party demand for holding local bodies (LB) elections immediately.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Wahab expressed deep concern over the situation after the short spell of rain in city, few days ago.

JI Karachi General Secretary said that the negligence of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) had plunged the entire city in rain water and the people have faced tremendous hardships due to accumulated rain water into streets and alleys.

He further said that the short spell of rain has unveiled the tall claims of KMC, adding that due to the absence of elected representatives the people are being faced hardships in the resolution of their issues.

On the occasion, He demanded of the government take notice of the adverse performance of KMC officers. “Despite the fact that the billions of rupees allocated to KMC in share of its annual budget, however; pathetic performance and the corruption in the Corporation has turned the city into darkness.

He further said that the previous and present governments have not yet taken any step towards the restoration of peace, however; they had provided support to the terrorists in the city, he alleged.

Reiterating his party pledge, Hafiz Naeem said that the JI was striving hard to restore peace in the city and spread its message of love and harmony to the people of the city.

On the occasion, he stressed upon the need of unity among the people to defeat those who were trying to destroy the peace of the city.
