Karachi: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam- Fazl (JUI-F) has demanded of the government and election commission of Pakistan to remove reservations of political parties regarding holding local government elections in Sindh province, as the situation needs clarity.
JUI-F Sindh secretary general Dr Khalid Mehmood Soomro and other leaders in a joint statement on Thursday said the issue of local government polls has become a joke in Sindh. They said due to changing schedules and requirement candidates are perplexed. They said political parties have severe reservations on the uncertainty being created by the ruling quarters. They said the ruling parties do not want to hold local government polls and they are creating delays in this regard.
The JUI-F demanded of the government to hold a meeting of all political parties and give the people of Sindh a consensus local government system. It asked the election commission of Pakistan to assure people that the local government polls would be held on the prescribed schedule.
