Knowledge-based society necessary for uplift: Pirzada Qasim

Karachi: Fresh batch of 120 students enrolled for Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) to the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ziauddin University were inducted at a simple ceremony here on Monday.

Sardar Yasin Malik, presided over the function. Dr Ejaz Fatima founder of Ziauddin Hospital, Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim Raza Siddiqui Vice Chancellor Ziauddin University, Deans, senior medical practitioners and prominent citizens were present.

Sardar Yasin, addressing the students, advised them to exercise punctuality and productive time management in order to achieve professional excellence. He said that the fresh batch of students were now entering into professional world where progress is linked with untiring efforts and the hard work would be made students successful professionals.

Dr Ejaz Fatima said that medical profession was no longer generic and has specialized areas. Pharmacists have become necessary in hospitals for evaluation of medicines prescribed for the patients. The students of Pharmacy have bright future in healthcare, she emphasized.

Prof Dr Pirzada Qasim said that the university established with the vision of Sir Ziauddin, the distinguished Vice Chancellor of Aligarh University, has both historical and cultural heritage.

He said the so far nine batches were successfully imparted the learning of pharmacy and now the 10th batch has been inducted into the Pharm- D five years course and on completion would be fully trained professional to be part of a knowledge based society necessary for development and growth of the county.

Prof Dr N.A Jafarey, Prof Dr Anwar Ejaz Baig, Prof Ali Akbar Sial, Dr Nida Hussain, Prof Dr Qamaruddin Barakzai also spoke.

Earlier, Muhammad Yousuf, Registrar of the Ziauddin University handed over the rolls of 120 fresh students of 10th batch in the discipline of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) to the Dean Faculty of Pharmacy.
