Lyari gangster’ remanded to police


KARACHI: Anti-Terrorism Court-V (ATC-V) remanded an alleged Lyari gangster associated with a Sheraz Comrade group to police custody till 15th April 2014 in murder cases here on Thursday.

The accused, Raheel alias Darinda, was produced before ATC-V Judge under tight security. The investigation officer requested the court for more time to conduct further interrogations.

Sindh Government had announced Rs5million head money on the accused.

According to the Investigation officer, suspect was allegedly involved in 57 murder cases including killings of Rangers, policemen and citizens. He was also involved in murder of police constable, Noman, of Aram Bagh police station.

Suspect was arrested during a police encounter within the limits of Aram Bagh police station on 2 April 2014, while his three accomplices were killed during the encounter, police added.

One hand grenade one 9mm pistol were seized from his possession.

A case was registered against suspects at the Aram Bagh police station under Sections 353, 302 (premeditated murder) and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code read with Section-7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act, 1997.
