Karachi: Principal Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC) Prof Waqar Kazmi on Monday urged the Sindh Government to immediately arrest the killers of Prof Javed Iqbal Qazi and provide foolproof security to the doctors of the hospitals of Karachi Municipal Corporation (KMC).
He expressed these views while addressing a condolence reference held in seminar Hall at Civic Centre Karachi. Former President PMA Dr Shershah Syed, Dr Zubair, Dr Salma Kausar, Prof Tipu Sultan and Dr Qaiser Sajjad were also present.
Kazmi said uncertainty prevails among doctor community and authorities concerned should take action against those who are involved in the killing of doctors in Karachi. He demanded for exemplary punishment for those who killed Dr Javed Qazi.
Dr Shershah Syed lamented that despite the passage of one week no arrest is made by the law enforcement agencies so far. He said no any health practitioner wants to add miseries for patients but time has come for doctors to decide their future line of action.
Prof Tipu Sultan said there is no rule of law in Pakistan and educated people like doctors were being killed with impunity. He informed that 130 doctors were killed in last ten years.
He demanded of the government to announce Rs 30million compensation for the family of Prof Dr Javed Iqbal Qazi.
Dr Qaiser Sajjad demanded of the government for early arrest of the criminals involved in Dr Qazi murder and compensation for the bereaved family.
The medical practitioners form Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH), Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, Rafiqui Shaheed Hospital and representatives of various medical organizations attended the reference.
