MQM activist, dacoits among seven killed in Karachi

KARACHI: At least seven people were killed and eight others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Saturday. Two dacoits were killed and a dacoit and a passerby sustained injuries in police encounter in PNT Colony in Korangi. Tariq Raheem head of Korangi Industrial Area police station told PPI that they got information that some criminal elements were busy in looting people in PNT Colony.

“The police raided the area and on seeing police mobiles, the criminals opened fire and in retaliation two dacoits were killed while one of them managed to escape in injured condition. We were looking different hospitals for the whereabouts of injured dacoit,” he said.

The SHO said that a passerby Bilal also sustained injuries while the identities of the killed dacoits could not be ascertained till the filing of report. The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for autopsies and treatment.

In another incident, two bullet-riddled bodies were found near Nagori Bus Stop along Super highway. SHO Memon Goth Mohammad Naeem said bodies had marks of torture and they look like Pashtuns. The identities of victims could not be ascertained and they were shifted to a morgue after legal formalities.

A body was recovered from Northern bypass, within the limits of Manghopir police station. SHO Manghopir Fateh Mohammad said that victim was identified as Mohmmad Arif, 35, son of Mohammad Hanif. He said that the victim was associated with MQM and he was abducted from SITE area on February 13. The body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

A 45-year-old man was killed by unidentified men near Ghazi Goth in Orangi Town 13. According to police, Mohammad Amin, son of Mohammad Khan, sustained bullet wounds on his upper torso and was shifted in an injured condition to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries during treatment.

50-year-old Tanvir was gunned down by unidentified men in Ranchor Line. The body was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Unidentified armed motorcyclists hurled a hand grenade near Mominabad Police station in Orangi Town, injuring five people. According to Peerabad police station, the injured were identified as Naseeb, 40, son of Sabir, Yousuf, 35, son of Taj Mohammad, Hussain, 30, son of Ayub and Siraj, 45, son of Meraj. The injured were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Moreover, two people were injured in separate firing incidents near Boat Basin and Sachal Goth. According to police, Shaukat, 35, son of Sarfaraz was injured by unidentified armed men near Benazir Park in Boat Basin area while Sagheer, 45, was injured near firing in Sachal Goth. Both bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
