New delimitations not to raise number of seats: Khuhro

Karachi: Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro here Tuesday said that the new delimitations would not raise the number of assembly seats as the number of constituencies increases only after census.

Addressing a press conference at Sindh Assembly committee room he said the new general elections are approaching nearer and present assemblies would complete their tenure. He said in past there were 110 seats of Sindh assembly and after the census of 1998 they increased to 168. He said now the number of seats would only increase after fresh census.

He said as new census is not conducted the new decimations should be made in whole province instead of focusing on a particular area. He said under the constitution a minister who resigns from his portfolio could again be made a minister provided he ensures his re-election within six months.

He said sans one minister of Awami National Party (ANP) Amir Nawab all the resignations of opposition ministers have been accepted.

Earlier, he met with three children who returned from India after their successful treatment of hole in heart. These children were sent to India with help of Rotary International. He said 13 more such children would soon be sent to India for their treatment.
