Karachi: The new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine has been installed in Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) and would start functioning within two or three days, says In-charge Radiology Department of the hospital Prof Tariq Mehmood on Monday.
Talking to PPI, he said that fixing new CT scan machine is also underway in JPMC and with its induction, the hospital would become the first ever healthcare institution in the country where three CT scans and two MIR machines would facilitate the people.
He said thousands of people from all four provinces of Pakistan would be facilitated from new MRI and CT scan machines in JPMC in near future. He said installation work of new CT scan was underway and hoped that machines would start functioning from coming March 2014.
He said with inclusion two new machines in hospital thousands of visiting OPD and under treatment patients would avail the services at lower prices as compared to heavy fees charged by private hospital.
He said a large number of patients could be able to get different brain and backbone tests conducted at cheaper rates.
Dr Tariq said these two machines had been brought to JPMC under public-private partnership, while thousands poor patients would be facilitated free of cost. He said private hospital carry out MRI test at Rs 5,000 to 20,000 fee and CT scan test at Rs 5,000 to 15,000 in the city.
He termed the inclusion of new two machines in JPMC a great news for not only the citizens of Karachi but also for the people of interior Sindh and other three provinces. He said around 25,000 patients would be facilitated annually with the installation these machines.
