New relief project in quake-hit Balochistan

Karachi: Emergency and relief activities by HANDS at Balochistan earthquake affected areas are under way and getting more strengthened by new relief and recovery project of Rs425 million which has been supported by DFID.

The duration of the project is 12 months in which people of 3 districts of Balochistan including Awaran, Kech & Panjgore will get support of 4,500 one-room shelters, reconstruction of 10 schools and establishment 25 child friendly spaces, reconstruction of 5 government hospitals and 15 mobile medical camps.

Moreover the establishment of rehabilitation center at district headquarter Awaran, cash for work support to 10,000 families, material support for reconstruction of communal schemes in 300 locations, provision of solar lights to 10, 000 families, provision of ceramic filters to 10,000 families, provision of 20,000 blankets to 10,000 families, provision of roofing kits to 10,000 families are also included in this project.

Initial planning of the project will be started in light of survey, the need assessment survey in all these districts, with the consultation of community people and in coordination with Balochistan government will be started soon.
