KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Inam Meman, said on Monday that provincial government would not extend arm license renewal date anymore and all old licenses would be canceled after 31 January 2014. In a statement, he said that Sindh government had already run a campaign for renewal of arm licenses and also extended the last date for one month but now no more time would be given to the license holders.
He said that the government was taking serious steps to free the province of illegal weapons and maintain peace. He asserted that thousands of illegal weapons had been seized during campaign against the same and now after 31th January, an effective campaign would be started against old arm licenses.
The minister said that police and rangers had been given full powers for elimination of illegal arms and no one would be given any concession in this regard. He advised all license holders to get renew their old licenses before the last date.
