PMA deplores two doctors killing


Karachi: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Centre and PMA Karachi on Monday strongly condemned the murders of Dr Naseem Abbas and Dr Sher Ali in Karachi and termed the ongoing wave of the killing of medial fraternity a conspiracy to disrupt peace of the city ahead the month of Muharram-ul-Haram.

A high level emergent meeting of PMA Centre and PMA Karachi leaders was held at PMA House here, which was presided over by Dr M Idrees Adhi, President PMA Karachi. The meeting was attended by Dr Mirza Ali Azhar, Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad, Dr Qazi M Wasiq, Dr Shershah Syed, Dr Aziz Khan Tank, Dr Ahmed Bhimani, Dr Serajudaulla, Dr Shaukat Malik, Dr Khalil Mukaddam and others.

PMA said the considerable number of doctors had already been targeted and killed in previous years, but unfortunately, criminals were not brought to books. PMA said Doctors were working in very stressful conditions and it was difficult for them to perform their duties under such circumstances.

PMA condoled with the families of the slain doctors and demanded of the government to take proper measures to protect doctors and restore peace in the city.

PMA demanded of he government to pay a substantial amount as compensation to the families of the doctors. It further demanded of the government authorities to arrest the culprits and award them exemplary punishment.
