Protease beat Pakistan in Doha

Karachi: South African women recorded a three-wicket victory against their Pakistani counterparts in the Triangular Women’s ODI Cricket Tournament at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha on Wednesday.

Pakistan batted first and were all bowled out for a measly total of 101 in 44.4 overs. Bismah Maroof top scored for the side with 30 runs. D van Niekerk bowled lethally and captured a five-wicket haul.

In reply, South Africa reached the victory total with three wickets in hand and more than eight overs to spare. SA Fritz played an impressive and unbeaten 43 runs. Nida Dar took three wickets.

The two teams will again clash in climax at the same venue on Friday. Ireland was the third team taking part in the tri-series.

Pakistan had been unbeaten before this match and topped the table with six points. South Africa, who lost their first match against Pakistan are in second place with five points. Their opening match of the tournament against Ireland was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to rain.
