Karachi: Bank AL Habib’s third Rashid D. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament will be held from January 24 to 26 here at Karachi Golf Club.
This competition is open to all eligible professionals and senior professionals on the national circuit, as approved by Pakistan Golf Federation.
The winner of the first such event in 2012 was Mohammad Munir, the leading professional golfer of Pakistan. Mohammad Nazir, of the Islamabad: Golf Club, was the winner of this event last year, when he came back from behind and chipped in for a birdie at the closing hole, overcoming Imran of the DHA Club.
A subsidiary competition for the rated Professionals, Veteran Professionals and Caddies of the Karachi Golf Club has already from January 22. Bank AL Habib is sponsoring this tournament for KGC Professionals and Caddies to support and help develop them every year since the year 2000.
This year Bank AL Habib has increased the prize and appearance money for the events to Rs 3,400,000 which will be a prominent encouragement to the professional golfers and the sport. A 1300cc Toyota car also waits for the lucky professional achieving hole-in-one. Last year was propitious for Afsar Ali of Karachi Golf Club as his hit made hole-in-one and he took Bank AL Habib’s brand new 1300cc Toyota Corolla with him.
The final round of the Rashid D. Habib Memorial National Professional Golf Tournament will be played on January 26, while all leading professional golfers of the country including Shabbir, Munir, Matloob, Nazir and Waheed Baloch are expected to participate in the competition.
