Karachi: Rawalpindi recorded a formidable 228-run victory against Islamabad in the summit clash of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, which concluded at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Thursday.
Chasing a big total of 434 runs in their last inning Islamabad scored only 206 runs – eventually conceding a big 228-run defeat.
Earlier, Rawalpindi scored 211 in their first inning and then make impressive showing in the second inning scoring 398 runs – following a brilliant knock of 177 runs from Shoaib Nasir. Islamabad had scored 175 runs in their first inning.
With the triumph, Rawalpindi cashed lucrative prize purse of Rs 2.5 million while Islamabad received 1.5 million.
Shoaib Nasir won Man of the Final Match award along with a Rs.50000 cheque. Peshawar’s Israrullah won Best Batsman award for scoring 875 runs during the event. The Best Bowler award went to Rawalpindi’s Nasir Malik for taking 65 wickets. Best outstanding cricketer/all-rounder was Imad Wasim of Islamabad, who scored 804 runs and also took 41 wickets. Each of them received Rs 50000.
