Karachi: A large number of fishers staged a colourful rally in the largest coastal village of Karachi, Ibrahim Hydri, to press their demands to restore the natural flow of the River Indus.
The rally, organised by Pakistan Fisherfolk Forum (PFF) in connection with Rivers Day was taken out from Sachal Hall to Motani Jetty, where the participants showered rose petals in to the sea.
PFF Chairperson Mohammed Ali Shah said the Indus River is our life, our culture and part of our civilization. He said let the river feed the sea, forests, lakes, wetlands and the deltaic region. He said like agriculture and industries, the lakes, delta and wetlands depend on the river water to have natural share. He asked the authorities to let the river flow to the tail end, delta region.
