KARACHI: Sindh government on Monday announced Rs2million reward money for a person providing information regarding two criminals who were sentenced to death in their absence in Wali Babar Murder Case. The fugitive criminals include Kamran alias Shani and Faisal aka Mota.
According to Karachi police spokesman Atique Shaikh, a recommendation in this regard was sent by AIGP Shahid Hayat to provincial home department. “The recommendation was approved by provincial authorities on the request of police department,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention here that an anti-terrorism court on Saturday awarded death penalty to two criminals and life imprisonment to four accused in Wali Babar Murder Case.
Wali Babar was gunned down by armed miscreants in Liaquatabad area of Karachi on 13 January 2011.
Proclaimed offenders Kamran alias Zeeshan and Faisal Mota were sentenced to death while Faisal Mehmood, Naveed, Muhammad Ali Rizvi and Shahrukh were granted imprisonment for life. On more accused Shakeel was set free due to lack of evidence against him.
Meanwhile, law enforcement authorities have beefed up security around sensitive installation and courts in the city amid twin suicide attacks by armed militants at a local court in F-8 area of Islamabad, killing a Sessions Judge Rafaqat Awan among 12 people.
Talking to PPI, Rangers Spokesman Major Sibtain said that 100 percent forces of the law enforcement personnel were deployed on the streets to avert any untoward incident in the city.
“We are carrying out operations on day to day basis and it had has dented a severe blow to the criminals operating in the city,” he said adding that snap-checking and intelligence gathering was beefed up around sensitive installations in the city.
Meanwhile, Spokesman for Additional IGP Sindh Shahid Hayat, Atique Shaikh said that security level has been raised to high alert in the city after the Islamabad incident.
He said that security deployment was beefed up across the sensitive installation and seven courts across the city including Sindh High Court and Supreme Court Registry.
He said that intelligence network around the installations were raised and police commandos were ready to take any action in case of any untoward incident.
