Seven injured in DUET clash


KARACHI: At least eight people suffered injuries during a clash between two student organisations in Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), here on Wednesday.

SHO Jamshed Town Humayun said that the clash occurred between Islami Jamiat Talba (IJT) and Punjabi Students Association (PSA) in the vicinity of the university. “Iron rods and bottles were used in the clash between the two parties, causing injuries to eight students.”

A DUET student, Muneeb Farooq, said that the atmosphere of the university was tense from Tuesday because an IJT activist was beaten up by a rival group. University administration took no precautionary measures despite threat of feared clash, he said.

The injured students were shifted to a local hospital in the city. No arrests could be made till filing this report. Police also could not register the case.
