SHC grants bail to Bishop in riot case


KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday granted protective bail to Sadiq Daniel, Bishop of Karachi, in sum of Rs 50000 in a case for allegedly causing riot, mischief and extending threats.

A single bench comprising Chief Justice Maqbool Baqar allowed protective bail to Bishop Sadiq Daniel in sum of Rs 50000.

Applicant Bishop was nominated in FIR 6/2014 under section 147, 427, 504, 506 PPC, registered at Bijlee Road Quetta on the complaint of Rev Fiaz Younis. Complaint had accused Bishop Sadiq of causing riots, committing mischief and thereby causing loss and extending life threats to him.

Complainant stated that there was dispute over the St Merry Church in Peshawar and local court of Peshawar had granted stay in his favour. He said that despite court interim order, Bishop Sadiq Daniel entered into church through south gate by broking lock. He alleged that Bishop caused damage to Church property and extended life threats to him.
